Shining & Shooting Stars
SHINING & SHOOTING STARS
At this level students will learn basic coordination, (right and left, heels and toes) and very beginning/pre tap is taught. Children will learn such steps as: Knee bounces, heel together, flash trick step, boogie woogies, rock and roll, brush steps, knees and clap, marches, marching turn, jump out and in, heel push and toe heel walks. We learn many fun dance and song routines using all these new tap steps. Our goal is to prepare students for the next level of tap, Shooting Stars.
At this level, students will be introduced to the following ballet exercises: Pile (to bend), releve (to rise), tendue (to stretch/point), first and second positions of the feet and arms, ballet walks, chasse, bourre (tiptoes), hopping, jumping, and skipping, bourre turns, arabesques, and curtsy. This an introduction to ballet preparing them for Shooting Stars where we will build upon these exercises. Children will be introduced to some French terminology as described. These ballet steps will also be put to fun dance routines.
Doing a Pre K Yoga sequence which includes some basic yoga poses such as namaste (legs crossed and hands at heart), tree pose, butterfly, crab, table top, cat and cow, down dog, seated twists, warrior poses. The importance of deep breathing is introduced.
Shooting Stars 5-7yrs
At this level students will build on Shining Star tap steps. Children will learn such steps as: Heel Together with Arms, Step Digs, Step Together Step Digs, Heel and Toe in front, Heel front Toe back (Right and Left), Shuffle Steps (slow) , Shuffle Hop steps (slow), Heel Ball Change, Shuffle Ball change (Slow), Flaps- brush step, Flap Heel -brush toe heel. We learn many fun dance and song routines using all these new tap steps. Our goal is to prepare students for the next level of tap, Galaxy Groovers.
At this level, students will be introduced to beginning ballet and build upon Shining Star ballet curriculum. Exercises will be done center floor and at the barre. 5 positions of the feet and arms, leaps, turns, and port de bras. This introduction to ballet will prepare students for Sparkle Groovers where we will build upon these exercises. These ballet steps will also be put to fun dance routines.
